Honoring SuzAnne Handshoe

INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Mike Braun has directed flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of former Kendallville Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe who died on June 29, 2026.

Mayor Handshoe served our nation in the United States Marine Corps for over 20 years, including assignments in Hawaii, Japan, the Pentagon, and the Middle East in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

She went on to continue her service in Kendallville, being elected Mayor in 2003 and serving for 20 years retiring in 2024.

Governor Braun has ordered flags to be lowered in Noble County from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, the day of Mayor Handshoe’s funeral.

Governor Braun encourages all Hoosiers in Noble County to help honor Mayor SuzAnne Handshoe by lowering flags to half-staff at their homes and businesses.
