Gov. Beshear Orders Flags Lowered to Half-Staff in Honor of Fallen Firefighters

FRANKFORT, Ky. (May 1, 2026) – In accordance with a proclamation https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2026/04/national-fallen-firefighters-memorial-weekend-2026/ from the White House and Public Law 107-51 https://www.congress.gov/107/plaws/publ51/PLAW-107publ51.pdf, Gov. Andy Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Sunday, May 3, to coincide with the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service.

A joint resolution of Congress, approved Oct. 16, 2001, designated that each year, American flags should be lowered to half-staff in honor of the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service. This year, that service takes place on May 3.
