Honoring Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien and Sgt. Declan Coady

DES MOINES— Governor Kim Reynolds has ordered flags to remain at half-staff in honor of Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien and Sgt. Declan Coady until sunset on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Their funerals and interment will be held earlier in the day. The two Iowa soldiers with the U.S. Army Reserve 103rd Sustainment Command were killed in action in Kuwait on March 1, 2026.
At sunset on Saturday, March 21, 2026, flags will return to full-staff on the State Capitol Building and on flag displays in the Capitol Complex. Flags will also be raised to full-staff on all public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state.
Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties, and other government subdivisions should also return their flags to full‑staff at sunset.
