Funeral Arrangements Update
The funeral for Dick Cheney will be held on November 20, 2025, at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., bringing together national leaders, dignitaries, and invited guests to honor his decades of public service.
Following the cathedral service, Cheney will be laid to rest during a private interment attended by family and close friends.
According to the U.S. Flag Code, flags are to be lowered to half-staff from the day of his death until the day of his interment. On the day of his interment, flags will be returned to full-staff at sunset, marking the formal conclusion of the half-staff period under the statute.

Gov. Polis Orders Flags Lowered to Honor Former Vice President. DENVER – On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, following the lowering of flags by the President, Governor Jared Polis ordered flags across Colorado to be lowered to half-staff in honor of the passing of former Vice President Dick Cheney. Flags will remain at half-staff until interment.
