Funeral Arrangements Update

The funeral for Dick Cheney will be held on November 20, 2025, at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., bringing together national leaders, dignitaries, and invited guests to honor his decades of public service.

Following the cathedral service, Cheney will be laid to rest during a private interment attended by family and close friends.

According to the U.S. Flag Code, flags are to be lowered to half-staff from the day of his death until the day of his interment. On the day of his interment, flags will be returned to full-staff at sunset, marking the formal conclusion of the half-staff period under the statute.

(Statewide) – Governor Mike Braun has directed flags across the State of Indiana to be flown at half-staff in honor of former Vice President Dick Cheney, who died on Monday night at the age of 84. Flags at state facilities should remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of Cheney’s funeral. Governor Braun encourages Hoosiers to help honor Cheney’s life and legacy by lowering flags to half-staff at homes and businesses across the state.
