Funeral Arrangements Update
The funeral for Dick Cheney will be held on November 20, 2025, at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington, D.C., bringing together national leaders, dignitaries, and invited guests to honor his decades of public service.
Following the cathedral service, Cheney will be laid to rest during a private interment attended by family and close friends.
According to the U.S. Flag Code, flags are to be lowered to half-staff from the day of his death until the day of his interment. On the day of his interment, flags will be returned to full-staff at sunset, marking the formal conclusion of the half-staff period under the statute.

On Tuesday, November 4, 2025, after the White House lowered flags in honor of former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, who passed away on November 3, 2025, Governor Josh Shapiro ordered United States and Commonwealth flags on all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to fly at half-staff immediately in accordance with U.S. flag code. The flags shall be lowered to half-staff until sunset on the date of interment, which has not yet been announced. All Pennsylvanians are invited to participate in this tribute.
