Honoring Fallen Firefighters and Their Families

September 28 - September 29, 2025

Sep 28th through sunset

Governor Tim Walz today directed all United States and Minnesota flags at state buildings to be flown at half-staff from sunrise until sunset on Sunday, September 28, to honor Minnesota firefighters who have been killed or injured in the line of duty. This order occurs annually in honor of Minnesota Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day.

"Firefighters put their lives on the line every day to keep Minnesotans safe," said Governor Walz. "We lower our flags to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities and to recognize the families who carry their legacy forward."

Individuals, businesses, and other organizations are encouraged to join in lowering their flags to honor Minnesota's fallen firefighters and their families.
